Cortex is a ‘free form’ automation tool which permits the implementation of automated workflows and human reasoning, able to be triggered in any number of ways, and has inputs (data, context, third party systems etc.) which ultimately produce outputs (Results of reasoning, automated actions, new data etc). There are little or no constraints relating to the order, processes and reasoning or actions which can be captured in, or performed by Cortex. Cortex can form part of any existing Workflow Management environment, where it will perform its tasks upon command. Or make use of the built-in workflow environment to concentrate operational process in the teams which require it. Define user groups, task queues, breakpoints and handover points to match the way in which you wish to run your operations.

The solution offers total flexibility from 100% automation as an intelligent “black box” through to operator-guided interaction, or any mix of the two. Provisioning or configuration tasks can be started manually, or by a trigger from some other operational system, with completion of the process being totally automatic, or with human interaction via the workflow environment.
